Congratulations to Eddie Rehn who started the fire academy today with Anne Arundel County Fire Department in Maryland! Eddie came to the area from NY, constantly gets busted on for being a J.E.T.S JETS fan, but keeps coming back around and we love having him. Today his dreams came true as he started a career that began as a community volunteer. We look forward to your graduation and having you have in the area after the academy! Congratulations Eddie! ... The final drawing for the new Colonial Park Fire Co. #1 Southside Tower 33 is complete. The Seagrave Fire Apparatus 95' mid-mount Aerialscope tower-ladder on a low-low body design has the most Duo-Safety Ladder Corp ladders possible incorporated into an Aerialscope with a total of 266 feet of portable ground ladders. The bucket has two long-handled manual ladder pipes for commercial buildings, and a 237" wheel base - the shortest possible for maneuverability. The apparatus will be painted green and white to match the fleet. Several "old school" features were made new again including side slider windows, windows in the rear cab wall, and a storage module in the cab between the jump seats to maximize access for equipment needed quickly. Thanks to 10-8 Emergency Vehicle Service for working the process with us. Look for Tower 33 toward the end of the year! ... See moreSee less

Ever wonder who’s protecting you while we’re tied up on a lengthy incident like the fire yesterday? Any time our units are committed to an incident for a substantial amount of time, we arrange for what’s referred to as a “cover company” or “transfer” to our firehouse. This also happens for training events that take us out of the area or special events like the annual banquet. Our transfer is almost always Elizabethtown Fire Dept Station 74 unless they’re busy on one of their own incidents. Here are pictures of them yesterday with a crew of five for several hours in our house to make sure our citizens still have coverage. And when we returned, they even gave a hand cleaning up before heading back to Lancaster County.

Thanks for the coverage, assisting on the three additional calls, and for helping clean up yesterday E-Town, you fellas are a class act and we love having you!
