COMPANY 33 RUNS FIRST DUE |
Sat, Jan 20th, 2018 10:13:00 am -
Company 33 along with mutual aid from Linglestown Fire Company #1 - Station 35 and Paxtonia Fire Co No 1 were dispatched for a report of a garage fire in the 900 block of Galion Street. Engine 33, Truck 33, and Chief 33-1 along with the squad and traffic unit responded. Engine 33 arrived with a well involved attached garage beginning to extend to the house. The engine company split with one crew stretching the initial attack line while the other crew performed primary searches of the dwelling as well as ensured the door between the garage and the residence was secured. Ladder 33 arrived and laddered the building and preemptively placed a crew on the roof. Progress Fire 32 picked up the hydrant and stretched a precautionary line into the residence. Control was marked in 30 minutes and the box scaled back for extensive overhaul. Special thanks to Elizabethtown Fire Dept Station 74 for transferring and covering Colonial Park while all units were committed to the fire.
It's important to note that the single most crucial and beneficial action by the occupant was closing the door between the garage and the residence once realizing there was a fire in the garage. Fire never made it into the house because of this single action by the occupant and quick extinguishment by Engine Company 33 personnel!
